Visitors from Kabul Afghanistan meet
key county department heads
Riverside County, CA. Leaders from Kabul
city government met with officials of
the County of Riverside earlier today
at County administrative offices in the
City of Riverside. Briefings on trade,
international investment, economic
development, fire services, human
resources, regional parks, revenues, and
financial management were conducted.
The city’s Deputy Mayor Khoghman
and a team of 8 city department heads
spent the morning learning about
county services and program delivery.
The meetings were arranged by the
County executive Office in cooperation
with the U.S. Department of State.
Kabul has a population of 5.2 million
people and is rebuilding the city and
expanding municipal services after more
than 30 years of warfare, according to
Deputy Mayor Khoghman. This is the
first official visit by Afghan officials to
the County of Riverside. City and county
officials may share more information
via electronic means in the weeks and
months ahead. Next stop for Afghan
team members is the City of Covina.
