Welcome to this month’s issue
of Export magazine.
The lead story in this issue highlights a
visitation from the Kenyan Ambassador,
Dr. Wenwa Akinyi Odinga Oranga.
Trade and investment opportunities
were explored during the meeting, a
possible visit from the Kenyan President
and a bilateral trade agreement that
would formalize our relationship and
commitment from Kenyan government
to Riverside County. Supervisor John
Benoit and his wife had just returned
from a trip to Kenya and were present
at the meeting, as was Supervisor
Marion Ashley, whose son works for a
Kenyan coffee company, whose wife is
Kenyan. Dr. Oranga was accompanied
by Kusum Kavia, President of
Combustion Associates Incorporated
(
CAI), a Riverside County company in
Corona. CAI manufactures portable gas
powered turbine electrical generators
and is working to provide the Kenyan
government with some of their product.
An article from Senator Bill Emmerson
is also featured in this issue. The
Senator is Chair of the Senate Select
Committee of California-European Trade.
The committee serves as the primary
California State Senate contact with:
European companies seeking to
establish new facilities in the United
States;
Existing California-based subsidiaries of
European companies with the intent to
encourage the expansion of those firms
here, thus creating more California jobs;
The numerous California-based
European Chambers of Commerce,
European Trade Commissions, European
trade and investment offices, as well
as with the Commercial Consuls of
California-based European Consulates
General, for purposes of expanding
bilateral trade, foreign direct investment
(
FDI) and job creation in the Golden
State.
We have also had visitors from Kabul
Afghanistan that met with several of our
county department heads to explore
best practices” as Afghanistan prepares
for recovery after years of war.
We also welcomed officials from Jiangsu
Province China this month that were
interested in agriculture products
from Riverside County and consumer
protection issues that affect imports.
Don’t miss informative articles from our
foreign trade consultants Chris Lynch and
Brad Holt. We have added, this month,
foreign trade Consultant Hema Dey as a
regular column contributor as she talks
about “Leading Global Companies to the
U. S.” and an article from Joanna Olsen
Turning Customers into Profits”.
With warmest regards,
