Project Overview:

Palm Village ApartmentsIn partnership with the City of Palm Desert utilizing its Redevelopment Agency (RDA) Low- and Moderate-Income Housing Set-Aside Funds, the County of Riverside contributed HOME funds for the development and construction of a 21-unit multi-family rental housing complex on 3 lots owned by the Palm Desert RDA. The project was later amended to increase the project size through the acquisition and donation of two additional lots by the Palm Desert RDA. The project was expanded from 21 rental units to 36 rental units. The project completed in October 2007. The total development cost of the project was approximately $8.9 million. The period of affordability will be for 55 years ending August 29, 2062.
Community Details:
The project consists of 36 two-bedroom/1-full bath units. Individual units include a private patio/balcony and come equipped with central heating and air conditioning. Kitchens include energy efficient appliances and fixtures. Rooms also include variable speed ceiling fans. Two of the units are fully handicapped accessible, with two others designed specifically for people with sensory impairments. In addition, the remaining ground floor apartments can be easily adapted for handicapped use.
Amenities:
The grounds include a common area for children's play equipment, laundry facilities and covered carports equipped with photovoltaic system to generate electricity for common areas and walkways. The landscaping features drought tolerant plants and palm trees that were originally located along Fred Waring Drive.

Approximately 11 miles east of Palm Springs, Palm Village Apartments is located near Palm Desert’s primary commercial corridor of businesses, shopping, and dining. |
