Project Overview:

Arroyo ProjectThe County provided HOME funds for the development and construction of a 60-unit multi-family rental housing complex. This was the first phase of a two-phase multi-family housing development in the City of Desert Hot Springs. Other funding sources include a tax credit equity contribution, a Guaranteed Rural Rental Housing Loan Section 538 from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), an Affordable Housing Program (AHP) loan and a loan from the Redevelopment Agency for the City of Desert Hot Springs.
The project completed in March 2007. The total development cost of the project was approximately $13 million. The period of affordability will be 55 years ending November 14, 2061.
Community Details:
The project consists of 12 one-bedroom/1.5-baths, 16 two-bedroom/1.5-baths, 20 three-bedroom/2-baths, and 12 four-bedroom/2-baths units. Individual units come equipped with central heating and air conditioning, and kitchens with refrigerator, dishwasher, stove/oven, and garbage disposal.
Amenities:
The shared amenities include a community building of approximately 1,620 square feet with a full kitchen, restrooms, laundry facilities, and a computer lab room to be used as a computer learning center. Additional amenities include a day care center of approximately 1,654 square feet, tot lots, a sports court, and a swimming pool. Support services include a variety of classes, after-school programs, English as a Second Language (ESL) and parenting programs.
Neighborhood:
Desert Hot Springs is in Riverside County approximately 100 miles east of downtown Los Angeles and 10 miles north of Palm Springs. The immediate neighborhood is made up of residential and commercial development. Many services are convenient to the project including shopping, schools and employment centers. Bus service is adjacent to the property and medical services are less than a mile away.
